Flying blind

About

Flying blind is about figuring our way through this uncharted journey of raising children.

I obtained my B.S. from a small women’s college, and my M.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Ed, and then worked as a teacher.  None of it prepared me for the hardest job I would ever know- Motherhood.  It’s so complex and has changed me in profound ways.  I’ve changed as a wife, a friend, teacher, and I keep changing every day.  I started this blog to bring to light the complexities of parenthood, and to bring parents together, especially those of children with any outside needs.  It has been remarkable to witness how different my experiences have been with each of my 2, never mind in comparison to the experiences of my friends and family with their own children.  I’m hoping to make this a safe and interactive place to bring feelings, questions and stories to the table.  In any case, we’ll just see where this takes us all – together.

  1. Hello,

I really enjoy your website and want to take a moment of your time to discuss a topic I believe all moms/parents are interested in. Give the current state of the economy where jobs are scarce and competition is high, we find that having a proper education to fall back on has become vital. The building blocks for superior education are developed as a child. As such, I wanted to take a minute to discuss with you the importance of an early childhood education and what it will mean for our youth as they prepare for the future.

I’ve written an informational and educational article that I’d like to pass along to you in hopes that you’ll post it on Flying Blind. I believe your readers will enjoy what it has to offer. Please let me know if you’d be interested in reviewing it and I’ll send it along.

Thank you in advance for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Kindly,
    Emily

    • Hi Emily,
Thank you for taking the time to read here at Flying Blind. I would love any articles you think would be helpful for other readers here. I actually just read another article I was going to post about later today or tomorrow about a study on play in children and the impacts as adults. some severe results, obviously not a definitive constant result, but a connection between lack of play/with-held play and violence as an adult. So I would be very interested. Thank you so much! I look forward to reading the article and hearing your thoughts.
